[Profile] He is a maker with a workshop in Ponte in Valtellina, Italy. He began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and studied for three years at the Castelfranco Veneto Conservatory with Stefano Grondona, one of the country's most famous guitarists. After graduating from the conservatory, he began working as a guitarist and teacher, but at the same time began his career in guitar making, eventually becoming fully independent as a maker. Perhaps because of the influence of his teacher Grondona, he developed a great interest in the master craftsmen of pre-WWII Spain, including Manuel Ramirez, Santos Hernandez, Enrique Garcia and Simplicio, and had the opportunity to study many of their actual works. Later, he had the opportunity to come into contact with the guitars of Antonio de Torres, and since then he has positioned them as the standard for all of his own work and has become convinced of his own direction. To date, he has repaired and studied about 20 Torres guitars, and uses their designs as the basis for his own creations. While actively modernizing the technical aspects of construction methods, his guitars are not mere replicas of past masterpieces, but "totally original guitars" that have won the admiration of many guitarists, including his mentor Grondona. He co-authored "La Chetarra di Liuteria" with Stefano Grondona.
[Description] This is a 1999 Torres model. While it is traditional in design and construction, there is a sense of modern stylishness that is characteristic of the Italian craftsman. Beautiful materials were selected, probably Italian or Swiss spruce for the sound board and South American rosewood for the back and sides. It has a pleasant, rich sound with a solid, thick, dry sound throughout. The original finish has a few scratches near the soundhole and the bridge, but there is no history of crack repair. The string tension is medium to soft, so it feels easy to play. The appearance, tone, and playability are all of excellent quality, and we recommend this Torres model.
