[Profile] Jose Ramirez is the most famous Spanish guitar brand in the world. This brand has even made the history of Spanish guitar making for more than a century since the era of Jose Ramirez I. In particular, the guitars produced during the era of Jose Ramirez III were both innovative and widely popular, and continued to attract guitar fans from all over the world. The ceder is mainly adopted for the top, and the inside of the both sides is made of cypress, which is used in flamenco guitars, to create a double-layer structure. The string length is 664mm, which is longer than usual, and urea resin was used for the finish. These innovations made by Ramirez III on the classical guitar were truly original and had a great impact on later guitar making in general, and at the same time, the sweet, lustrous, romantic tone, known as the "Ramirez-tone," came to define the very image of the classical guitar.
[Description] Jose Ramirez III Model 1A 1971 No. 4768 MC stamp is now in stock, with Western red cedar (synonymous with Ramirez) for the soundboard, Central and South American rosewood for the back and sides, and cypress for the inside of the sides. MC stands for Manuel Caceres. Caceres entered Ramirez's workshop in 1963, and after studying under Paulino Bernabe (1932-2007), the head craftsman at the time, he was soon promoted to Master Craftsman and allowed to produce under his own stamp. After he became independent from Ramirez and established his own workshop, his work with master craftsman Arcangel Fernandez, in addition to his own models, attracted attention, and he was very active until Caseres' retirement. Especially in the 2000s, he gained popularity as a representative of the Madrid School along with Arcangel Fernandez.
This piece has a strong Ramirez characteristic, but it is not too sweet and has a good elegance, which is typical of Caceres' work. The body resonates richly, and its dense sound is accompanied by a good sense of echo. In fact, Ramirez's bass is not overly heavy, but is built with a homogeneous acoustic design with the treble, but even here, the treble seems to come forward more naturally, and its romantic sound has a unique charm. There is a 10cm repair history of a crack at the bottom of the back, but it has been repaired so nicely that it is not visible (patch reinforcement has been applied on the inside). There are a few dents on both sides of the fingerboard that have been repaired.
