[Profile] Born in Madrid, Spain in 1931. Arcangel Fernandez became friends with Marcelo Barbero I,who was then considered to be the successor to Santos Hernandez, in 1954 and frequently visited Barbero's workshops to learn how to make guitar. Two years later, after Barbello I died at the young age of 52, he took over the workshop, and later, Barbello I's son Marcelo Barbello Hijo joined as a staff member and continued to work together. The idea of design, selection of materials, and above all, refusal to compromise on timbre has reached an outstanding level. He retired from guitar making in 2011 and is now an increasingly rare brand.
[Description] We are pleased to offer this Arcangel Fernandez, made in 1971. Sound board is made of spruce, back and sides are Indian rosewood, and it was probably shipped as a flamenco model, but is now used as a classical guitar. In fact, what you hear here is a sound that is truly appropriate for classical playing. In terms of functionality, the Arcangel's typical rigidity is also excellent. The richness of the chords, the transparency of the single notes, and the overall balance are also excellent. The sound board has scratches and dings from hard use as a flamenco guitar, and there are some string skipping marks on the lower bridge at the 1st and 2nd string positions. There is a possibility that the sound board was repainted when the golpe board was removed. There is some paint loss and wood wear on the back of the neck from the 1st to 5th frets.
